Lucas Jervies

Australian Lucas Jervies was a student of the prestigious Victorian College of the Arts in Melbourne. He went on to the Australian Ballet School, joining the Australian Ballet as a dancer in 1999.

After a few seasons in his native country, Jervies moved to the Netherlands. From 2002 he danced with Dance Works Rotterdam and from 2003 to 2010 with Scapino Ballet Rotterdam.

In 2005, Jervies created his first choreography for the Australian Ballet. In 2010, he stopped dancing in order to focus entirely on choreography. He was one of the founders of JACK Productions in Melbourne, an independent production company where young choreographic talent was given the opportunity to develop.

In 2012, he was admitted to the directing course at the Australian National Institute of Dramatic Art. After graduating he became Affiliate Director of the Griffin Theatre Company and in October 2013 was appointed Artistic Director of Buzz Dance Theatre, Australia's leading dance theatre company for children and youth. Lucas Jervies has also created dance and/or theatre for Malthouse Theatre, Awesome Festival, West Australian Ballet, Sydney Dance Company Pre Professional Year, Queensland Ballet, The Australian Ballet, Expressions Dance Company, Scapino Ballet Rotterdam, JACK Productions, Korzo Theatre The Hague, Milwaukee Ballet, Noverre Society Stuttgart Ballet, CoDarts Rotterdam and The Australian Ballet School.
From 2021, Jervies will be a Contemporary Teacher at The Australian Ballet School.

At Scapino Ballet Rotterdam, Lucas Jervies created his first guest choreography for Twools Internat10nal in 2008. After that he was part of the team for TWOOLS at the Opera (2010). For TWOOLS 11 in 2009, he created Sub Rosa (under the rose).
