
James Atkinson
British baritone James Atkinson, a BBC Radio 3 New Generation Artist from 2023 to 2025, is considered an important emerging talent. Winner of the Royal Over-Seas League Singers Prize in 2022 and a graduate of the Royal College of Music's Opera Studio, he has performed opera roles such as Guglielmo (Così fan tutte), Masetto (Don Giovanni), Orest (Elektra) and Papageno (Die Zauberflöte).
Atkinson has performed with renowned ensembles worldwide, including the Boston Handel and Haydn Society (Ein deutsches Requiem), the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra (Belshazzar's Feast), the Montreal Symphony Orchestra (The Creation) and the London Philharmonic Orchestra (Serenade to Music). As a recitalist, he has appeared at Wigmore Hall, the Oxford International Song Festival, Beethovenfest Bonn and the Aldeburgh Festival, where he received praise for his artistic versatility and talent.
