Heidi Vierthaler

Heidi Vierthaler (1967) has roots in Europe (Germany) and the USA. She trained in ballet at the academy of the Pacific Northwest Ballet in Seattle.

From 1986 to 1990, she danced with this company in ballets by Balanchine and Kent Stowell, among others. Vierthaler went on to dance with various companies in the USA and Europe until 2006: Ballet Chicago, Tanzwerk Nürnberg, Ballet Dortmund, Ballet Gothenburg and Ballet Frankfurt under William Forsythe.

Since 2007 Heidi Vierthaler has been teaching movement research and modern ballet. From her double expertise as a dancer/choreographer and teacher she developed her own movement language: the Stream-Flow Method. Vierthaler directs HATO Projects in Amsterdam, which focuses on the further development of this now recognised method.

Vierthaler has created work for and with students of Codarts, the Seattle Dance Project and the Amsterdam School of the Arts. She also gives guest lectures at various places, including Architanz Studio in Japan, DOCH University in Stockholm, HJS Studios (Amsterdam) and Dansateliers.

For Scapino Ballet Rotterdam Heidi Vierthaler created the performance Shin Bun Shi as part of TWOOLS 13.
