Dancing and the brain

Dates 03 June 2022

A unique night with Scapino Ballet Rotterdam and neuropsychologist Erik Scherder on the impressive positive effect dance has on the brain.

For instance what does dance do to the brain of children and how important is dancing with a central nervous system disorder? After a successful first edition 2020 in collaboration with The National Ballet, Scapino Ballet will now host the Rotterdam edition. An unforgettable night full of live dance and valuable and surprising scientific insights.

Erik Scherder is professor of clinical neuropsychology with the VU Amsterdam and professor of Human Movement Sciences with the University of Groningen. Scherder conducts research on the influence of movement on the brain and shares this knowledge with a large audience, a.o. on national TV. The scientist is on a mission to get everyone dancing.

With our education program, Scapino Ballet Rotterdam pays close attention to the social value of dance and the positive effect dance has on the body.
