HEARTLAND

by choreographers Ed Wubbe - Marco Goecke  - Georg Reischl

Performance dates: Friday 2 February 2007 - Saturday 19 May 2007. Première: Friday 9 February 2007, Schouwburg Rotterdam.

Heartland is three premières from the heart of Scapino Ballet Rotterdam, made by the company's three resident choreographers: Ed Wubbe, Marco Goecke and Georg Reischl.
Three dance styles that show off the virtuosity and versatility of the Scapino dancers.

Ed Wubbe gives a surprising twist to the 90-year-old tradition of Stravinsky's 'Les Noces' by the Ballets Russes, (1917). In 'The Brides', the Russian wedding has been replaced by nine self-confident, contentious women.

Marco Goecke is spectacular, with the stunning and highly original piece 'Beautiful Freak' for twelve men to the music of Chet Baker and Michael Jüllich.

Shrouded in a profusion of movement in lush design and in a heightened atmosphere, Georg Reischl created a piece for twelve dancers and five musicians in 'Die Suche nach dem Kleid' to the music of Tchaikovsky and Michiel Jansen.
